PAIA VACATION RENTALS

The town of Paia was once a booming plantation town during Maui's sugar cane industry. Today, Paia is now a growing town full of colorful, rustic old sugar cane storefronts converted into local art galleries, eclectic boutiques, day spas and restaurants of international cuisines. Paia, often called the "Windsurfing Capital of the World", is located near the world famous windsurfing beach, Ho'okipa and is also the last town before the amazing drive to Hana. Now Paia is not just town full of windsurfers; it has become a highly desirable destination for people seeking an "off-the-beaten-track" vacation away from the resorts. Paia is also a training ground for athletes of all disciplines including road biking, kiting, stand-up paddling and tow surfing. During the winter months, north swells bring pro windsurfers and kite surfers from all over the world. This is an exciting time to visit Paia and watch the pros in action. If you prefer calmer ocean waters, it is best to visit in the summer months. A favorite beach for sunbathing and swimming near Paia is Baldwin Beach Park which features "Baby Beach" a reef-protected lagoon - great for children!

A few places to check out in Paia are Charley's Restaurant, which is frequented by part-time Maui resident, Willie Nelson, and the Paia Fish Market for its infamous fish burger. Mana Foods is another "not-to-be-missed" gem. It is a well-stocked health food store with a great deli section. Be sure to check out the wall of chocolate from all over the world on your left as you walk in!

Like Spreckelville, the weather in Paia is mostly dry and warm for the entire year as it lies just out of reach of the rain line to the East. This allows for some amazing rainbow sightings year round.
